A dedicated team of TUS workers, led by John McEnteggart have taken on trojan work in Drogheda town, completing regular litter pick-ups and improving the overall appearance of some of Drogheda’s litter“ black spots”. The team was created in October 2022 and have immediately complimented the anti litter campaign undertaken by Louth County Council, Love Drogheda BIDs, Drogheda Tidy Towns, Drogheda & District Chamber, resident groups, and businesses.
Drogheda have improved their ranking moving up 7 places with the goal to achieve “clean by European Standards” in the first IBAL report of 2023. IBAL judges will revisit Drogheda in the coming weeks and efforts are being focused by all parties, including the TUS litter team to improve Drogheda’s rating once again. The “#LookingGoodDrogheda” campaign has been raising awareness of the consistent work of these groups and encouraging others to take part to help reduce litter across the town and region.
The TUS team gather an average of 9-10 large bags of litter each day. Recent areas targeted by the team include Watery Hill steps, Highfield Steps, Marleys Lane, Marsh Road and town centre streets and laneways which is having a huge impact in the positive presentation of our town
The most recent IBAL report will be published on the Love Drogheda Website once it is received. Reaching the goal of “Clean to European Standards” is only possible if everyone plays their part in reducing the amount of litter around Drogheda and improving the town’s overall appearance.
Many thanks to the members of the TUS litter team for their incredible work; John Mc Enteggart, Gerard Kilroy, Thomas White ,Damian Davitt, Matthew O’Connor, Lee Gribbon and Dwayne Matthews.
