The St Patricks Day parade in Drogheda has grown from strength to strength in recent years, bringing bigger and better floats, themes and crowds into the streets of Drogheda to celebrate St Patricks Day. Last years "Mythology" themed parade saw the largest crowds the town has ever seen with jaw-dropping floats and large-scale puppets, all taking their cue from the recently installed murals on the DRAWDA Urban Art Trail.
Love Drogheda BID have been honoured to be a sponsor of the parade in recent years and we are thrilled to announce that we will be continuing that sponsorship in 2024. Additionally, Love Drogheda BID is delighted to say that we will be sponsoring the fireworks at an opening ceremony on the riverside starting from 7pm on Friday 15th March.
This year the celebrations increase once again into a massive 4-day festival taking place in the town, complete with fireworks, funfair, live music, family entertainment, the iconic Drogheda St Patrick's Day parade and much much more. The festival has been organised between Drogheda Festivals committee, Scotch Hall Shopping Centre, K Allen Events and Funfair and Love Drogheda BID, all working together to create a stellar festival to celebrate Ireland's patron saint. “We are delighted to have Love Drogheda BID sponsor this and also sponsor the parade” said chairperson Sarah Taaffe. Drogheda Festivals also wants to give a big thank you to Louth County Council for increasing our funding as sponsors this year to celebrate 60 years of the parade in Drogheda.
“There will be four packed days of festive fun and entertainment” said Scotch Hall General Manager Nichola Kelly.
”Killian Allen events are delighted to manage the event for this family orientated festival” noted Killian. “We will have a big wheel, plenty of fun fair rides, Samba, Absurdist Pipe band, Music, face painting, food stalls and plenty more.”
The 4-day festival is sure to draw in crowds from the Drogheda and its hinterland, with so much happening in Drogheda to keep everyone entertained, including a jam-packed schedule of live music in pubs all across the town. Thank you to the Drogheda Festivals committee and to all of this years parade and festival sponsors.
Drogheda's St Patricks Day festival will take place from 15th to 18th March, with the Love Drogheda Fireworks events taking place on Friday 15th March from 7pm at the riverside stage.
