The Drogheda and District Chamber recently held their North-East Business Awards for 2023, in the City North hotel. While there was many incredible entries and worthy winners on the night, we are delighted to announce that the DRAWDA-Urban Art Trail has one the award for "Best Tourism" for 2023!
A joint project between Droichead Arts Centre and Love Drogheda BID, the DRAWDA-Urban Art Trail is a collection of seven large-scale murals dotted throughout Drogheda, each one depicting a mythological figure associated with the region of Drogheda and the greater Boyne Valley. It was curated by Dee Walsh and includes work by local, national and international artists. The mural create a stunning self-guided walking trail through Drogheda town and are accompanied by an audio-trail of each of the stories.
BID CEO Trevor Connolly stated that "It was an absolute pleasure working with our partners on this project the Droichead Arts Centre, Anthony Murphy of Mythical Ireland and Dee Walsh the curator who created wonderful pieces of engaging art across our town that has reignited and reinvigorated some lesser-known mythological stories."
Maps for the walking trail can be found here, and more information on the DRAWDA-Urban Art Trail is available at www.droichead.com.
Congratulations to all the winners at this years awards and congratulations also to the Drogheda and District Chamber for organising another incredible event.
