The Boyne Valley International Film Festival returns in 2023, after massive success in 2022 and will continue to create an environment for filmmakers and audiences to connect, and celebrate film in the historical medieval town of Drogheda.

Film makers interested in applying for the BVIFF SHORT FILM BURSARY 2023 are invited to pitch a short film idea by email, no longer than two pages, and three will be shortlisted by the panel and awarded a bursary of €500. Each of the three will then be invited to present their short film idea to the panel during the festival with one lucky film maker chosen to be awarded a further bursary of €2,500!

Curated by acclaimed filmmaker and Boyne Valley native Frank W. Kelly and Collette Farrell, Droichead Arts Centre Director, and produced in partnership with Love Drogheda BIDs, the Boyne Valley International Film Festival will take place over three days and feature the best short films from around the country, and the world, with a special focus on films made in the region, combined with masterclasses and in conversations with film makers.
The festival will also have several awards for 2023 with a cash prize of €1,000 including: Best of Made in the Boyne, Best Irish Short Film Narrative, Best International Short Film Narrative, Best Animation Short, Best Documentary Short, and a short film bursary of €2,000 for film makers to develop their projects.
Funded by the Arts Council, Meath County Council Arts Office, Louth County Council and in partnership with Love Drogheda BIDS, and supported by Boann Distillery, the dhotel, & Anglo Printers. Produced by Droichead in partnership with film maker Frank W. Kelly.
