Love Drogheda BID and Drogheda Chamber of Commerce attended a constructive meeting with the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Roderic O'Gorman at Leinster House in relation to proposed temporary accommodation provision in Drogheda and the potential economic impacts that this will have on the town.
During the meeting, the team outlined the potential loss to the local economy estimated to be €5.4 million and requested that a full economic impact assessment be undertaken by the department to calculate potential future losses to the town including grants, festivals and events.
From a Love Drogheda BID perspective, we will continue to work towards a positive solution and are committed to growing the tourism offering with our partners across the sector in the best interests of the town and region.
